The biggest reaction I've gotten on Facebook (apart from my brief career in Nagpur TV!) Was when I wrote that I was in "God's own country" arrived on 17 February. Almost immediately, food people asked if I was in Israel, and some have begun to argue passionately that it is the only place that can get that title. But there was a soul who thought it might be Australia! I guess a lot of people probably think so ...
But it was not one of the above. It was Kerala (Kerala pronounced with the accent on the e). It's one of the states in the South-West of India on the coast. It got the nickname because it is so beautiful with the sea and the "back waters" - a network of natural water channels and lakes. Kerala has the highest literacy in India and is one of the cleanest states. The people are also more friendly than in most other places where we were.
I am working there and Luchelle and the kids on Friday night in Kochi (also called Cochin) joined for the weekend. We first in the Taj Gateway food lived and recorded the next morning for a power-boat ride. With expectations of a big white ski boat, we walked food to the jetti. What arrived was a small, white car boat. When we are in and the boat does not sink our major channels, the new container terminal, sjinese nets and a bunch of other stuff to explore. food It was in the end a lot of fun in the small boat - though there was not much power. Luchelle and Caela also went for a spa session food while I and Ewan ball playing in the pool. When we wanted to invite them to our first free to come and test the menu of the planned new restaurant. We have properly food thick feeding on the starters, tussengeregte, main courses and desserts, and sat with the chef as he explained it to us. We had to give marks and comments write. food Our intestines almost points sent to the additional food charge and we had almost a "abnormal load" sign on the car sit when we left after Aleppi to catch the boat house before he left.
Do not know why but we are some time in Feb / March trapped in traffic jams because one or another political party to march. This time it was no different, and we had almost no time came into the boat. But once we got on ...
No matter how stressed you are - a half hour on the waters of Kerala on the deck of a houseboat and you are as ge-chil they can give you a closet Windhoek food cool. This is one of the best experiences we have had to be at sunset on that boat. The boat has two slaapkemers, kitchen, lounge, dining room. The living room and dining room are open so you can sit there and look out. About 450 pictures on the boat moored for the night. We got dinner on the boat and then go for sleep. The next morning I and Ewan the "village" where we moored was explored. It was amazing to see how calmly the people along the river. Everyone was of course - their dishes, laundry and themselves - in the river and we had a little more reluctant to breakfast meal. When it's time to get back to where we climbed up and after a while the fierce negotiations with a street vendor is faced with a lot of extra stuff in the car on the way back to Kochi.
Sunday we stayed at Taj Malabar. It's probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed. It's on an island many years created back when they made the canals deeper for bigger food ships to sail there. It was only a hotel for traveling skeepsvaarders but later it into a luxury hotel converted. Inside it feels quite sometimes, or you are in a ship. We still have a "cruise" (unfortunately no booze) and took sjinese fishnets look at sunset. We spent the evening also a Kathakali (traditional food dance) watched show. Every single eye, eyebrow and nose about her movement means something. Very interesting. We were taken with the dancer but would not stand too close!
